Vegan Workshops in Europe
Fri, 13 Jul 2007
Nandita just returned from a trip to Europe. For the first time she gave vegan workshops abroad in Italy and in Ireland. Her goals -
1. To inspire people to reduce and replace animal products in their diets in order to reduce animal suffering.
2. To inspire people to reduce greenhouse gases and reduce ecological damage through wise food choices. The UN and FAO have declared that livestock raised for food produces 18% of the greenhouse gases on the planet. That's more than what is produced by all the vehicles on the planet! A plant based diet reduces greenhouse gas formation, water consumption, energy consumption - all items that livestock rearing consumes in large quantities.
3. To inspire people to improve their own health through a whole food plant based diet.
An overweight woman with heart problems attended one of Nandita's talks in Ireland and decided to make the switch. Within a month she had lost 9 kilos and was feeling much better, and had been able to reduce her medications. The hardest part for her was to take the jibes from her husband whose jokes about not having to mow the lawn any more were getting to her. But now that she is better, she is sure to have the last laugh.
During the workshops we served delicious vegan meals all suited to the local tastes. People need to know that their new diets will taste good.
